Initial Contact

The first contact to the Centre is generally made by phone, text message or e-mail…The unit works with parents, individual adults, schools and organisations. Requests can be made for either assessment and/or specialist teaching:- Initial information is gathered from the enquirer, to ascertain which service is required.

Advice

The Centre offers initial advice and a forum to discuss individual need, and the type of assessment that is required. Additional background information is taken at the point of assessment or immediately prior to teaching intervention starting.

Assessment

If an assessment is needed, a relevant date and time will be agreed. A name, address, date of birth, e-mail and contact telephone number will be taken. One adult is welcome to accompany the person being tested, for support.

Once a date is agreed, a confirmation letter is sent, this letter will confirm the date and time of the assessment, the unit address, payment details, and advice as to any additional information to bring.

The Centre Offers the following assessments:

  • Full Dyslexia assessment with recognitions of any accompanying difficulties likely to be present.
  • Dyscalculia Assessment.
  • Irlen Screening.
  • Staff have also recently trained to deliver the ADOS-2 assessment for Autistic Spectrum differences.

Prices and costs can be seen in the assessment section of this website….

Specialist Interventions

If lessons are required, then an appropriate time and start date will be decided, and the intervention will begin. Lessons are on-going and held on a weekly basis – the unit teaches in groups of two.

Progress reports are provided twice yearly. There is a shorter report at the end of the Autumn term, and a longer, more detailed report in July, just before the summer break.
