Dyslexia Unit provides multi-sensory based lessons using one of the following programs (depending on training and qualifications)

1. Dyslexia Institute Literacy Program

2. Units of Sound (Dyslexia Institute)

3. Hickery

4. Computer based packages

Computer software is also used as an additional support for all programs

All lessons are multi sensory based inclusive of

1. Alphabet sequencing task

2. Auditory & visual memory training

3. Introduction of letter sounds

4. Building of sight vocabulary

5. Single word & sentence reading

6. Single word & sentence dictation

7. End game

A multi-sensory handwriting program is also included in each lesson.

All lessons are geared to the individual child's need and unless specific difficulties justified teaching on a one to one all classes are taught in groups of two in order to encourage independent learning.
